4 Golden Rules To Clear The Civil Service Exam
Passing the Civil Service Exam is not just about memorization โ it is an exercise in time discipline and strategic elimination. Apply these proven heuristics:
1. Strict 80.00% General Average
A score of 79.99% is failing. The CSC does not round up. Furthermore, you must maintain balanced performance across all subtest areas โ bombing one deck can pull your entire rating below the cutoff.
2. Zero Negative Marking (Never Leave Blanks)
Unlike UPCAT or college entrance exams, the CSC has NO penalty for wrong answers. If 5 minutes remain on the clock, shade every remaining circle with a single consistent letter (e.g. all B's or all C's).
3. Calculator-Free Speed Mental Math
Calculators and smartwatches are strictly forbidden in the examination room. Master mental shortcuts: 10% + 5% for 15% discounts, converting fractions to decimals, and cross-multiplication for ratio word problems.
4. Aggressive Distractor Elimination
In Verbal analogies and Analytical syllogisms, immediately cross out the 2 extreme or unrelated choices. This boosts your random success probability from 25% (1 out of 4) to 50% (1 out of 2) immediately.
